August 31, 2026: Cape Town-based learning innovation agency Groundflr has joined education group NetEd, marking the next phase of growth for the business as technology continues to reshape how education is designed and delivered.
Backed by EXEO Capital, NetEd serves more than 25,000 students across South Africa through a growing group of higher and vocational education institutions. These include Eduvos, Isa Carstens® Academy, the Superyacht Training Academy and Stellenbosch Business Institute (SBI).
“World-class pedagogical content development and multi-modal delivery expertise are essential to the success of private higher education. As we continue to improve our institutions’ engagement models and teaching practices, accessible, high-quality learning material remains core to our goal of producing exceptional, work-ready graduates,” says Ben Shaw, M&A Executive at NetEd.
“Groundflr provides us with best-in-class content development and design, as demonstrated by its international client base, and we are delighted to support and expand its work.”
Joining NetEd will enable Groundflr to invest further in its people, technology and learning-design capabilities while growing its work with clients in South Africa and internationally. Its client base spans corporates, international development organisations and higher education institutions.
Richard Mellon, Managing Director of Groundflr, says the opportunity comes at a pivotal time for the learning industry as rapid advances in technology create new possibilities for how learning is designed and delivered.
“Sound learning theory is the foundation of everything we do. What sets Groundflr apart is how we build on that foundation, bringing together instructional design, visual production and emerging technologies to create better learning experiences. We call one of our team values ‘Doers who Dream’. It reflects our belief that we should always be looking ahead to where learning is going while staying firmly focused on delivering practical solutions for our clients today. That balance of ambition and pragmatism is what drives how we design and deliver.”
As an entity within NetEd, Groundflr will continue to serve and grow its external client base, while also having the opportunity to work with the Group’s education institutions.
The variety of learning environments across the Group will enable Groundflr to develop and apply solutions across a broader range of learning needs and delivery models, further strengthening the expertise it brings to all its clients.
